Cal Ox: Minimizes the Formation of Calcium Oxalate Stones in Dogs

Cal Ox is formulated to support urinary tract health in dogs that have had or are predisposed to calcium oxalate stone formation. Cal Ox helps diminish the likelihood of bladder stone formation by minimizing available oxalates, limiting crystallization, and supporting ideal urine pH and flow.

Cal Ox is formulated with ingredients known to help deter the formation of calcium oxalate stones in dogs. Potassium citrate and magnesium bind with excess calcium and free oxalates to minimize calcium oxalate formation. IP6 and vitamin E inhibit the crystallization process that leads to calcium oxalate formation. Included herbs help support the lubrication and soothing of the urinary tract mucous membranes, and act as natural diuretics that flush the system of excess minerals, crystals, and uric acid. Liver flavor.

How Cal Ox Deters Calcium Oxalate Formation

  • Potassium citrate and magnesium bind with excess calcium and free oxalates to reduce the amount available for stone formation. They also act as a urine pH alkalizing agent to create an environment less suitable for calcium oxalate stone formation.
  • IP6 and vitamin E inhibit the crystallization process that leads to calcium oxalate stone formation.
  • Herbs support the lubrication and soothing of the urinary tract mucous membranes; act as natural diuretics that flush the system of excess minerals, crystals, and uric acid; and may help reduce inflammation associated with tissue irritation from calcium oxalate stones.
  • Vitamin B6 deficiencies can contribute to an increase in oxalate production. Studies have shown that vitamin B6, taken with magnesium, can reduce the formation of stone development in patients with recurrent calcium oxalate kidney stones.

Additional note on ingredients: Although many similar products contain cranberries, Cal Ox from Thomas Labs® doesn't contain cranberries because they are considered a moderate oxalate producer. Therefore, giving cranberry supplements to dogs could potentially increase their risk of developing oxalate urinary crystals or stones.
