Coccidiosis is a parasitic disease of the intestinal tract caused by microscopic one-celled organisms called coccidia. They multiply in the intestinal tracts of animals who have suppressed or stressed immune systems. The primary sign of coccidiosis is diarrhea that ranges in severity depending on the level of infection. Severely infected animals may lose their appetite, become dehydrated, and in some cases die from the disease.
